His Excellency Mr. Muhammad bin Hamoud Shafi Al Shafi, Chairman of the Central Municipal Council, received a delegation of mayors of American cities, at the headquarters of the Council.
The delegation members were briefed on the democratic experience of the Municipal Council, the participation of citizens in electing members, and the distinguished participation of Qatari women, as voters, candidates, and members.
During the meeting, several issues of common concern and ways of strengthening relations were also discussed.
His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Hamoud Shafi Al Shafi, Chairman of the Central Municipal Council, stressed that His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, may God protect and preserve him, patronized the Qatari democratic experience, and provided all support and care to the Council in order to perform its duties to serve the country and the citizen .
The "Al Shafi" also talked about the democratic experience and the large popular participation in the municipal council elections, the competencies and powers of the council, and communicating with officials and various government agencies and ministries, to implement the projects of the departments and achieve the requests and aspirations of citizens.
